Work off those eggs!

I hope everyone enjoyed their Easter weekend!   I had a great time with my boys and couldn’t get any more pleasure from how convinced my son (5 years in a few days) is that the Easter bunny really does exist!  This year we left the Easter bunny some lettuce on the doorstep to be sure that he wouldn’t miss our house.  Had I planned things properly I wouldn’t have cooked the last of the carrots I had for lunch the day before….

imagesFor those who know me I am very aware of my nutrition and do stay on top of eating healthy on a regular basis.   What we eat FEEDS our body, tissues, muscles, organs, bones…what we decide to put into our body will directly affect how our body repairs itself and how we feel on a daily basis.  For myself, since I am so conscious and in tune with my body via nutrition and exercise, one day of poor choices can really throw me off.  This is usually enough to motivate me to eat healthy regularly.  But then along comes Easter and its little foil wrapped temptations around this time!

If you’re anything like me, I can’t always resist mini chocolate egg-goodness!  But one easily turns into two, and then three…and then a few more.  I can’t say that I really know how many I would have had this past weekend, but probalby too many for what my goals currently are!  For an idea of how this impacts daily caloric totals…cream

One small chocolate foil egg: 15 calories
One regular Cadbury cream egg: 150 calories

…and yes I also had a cream egg!

But now…no more sabbotaging my goals Easter bunny!  I’m focussed and willing to push for it this summer.  For those of you who have a hard time resisting holiday temptations, take advantage of this time of year knowing that there aren’t many big holidays in the next little while that will tempt you and lead to sabbotaging your goals.  Canada day and Halloween are both a good ways away…thankfully!  This is the perfect time to focus on cleaning up your nutrition and maybe some unhealthy habbits you might have.  So stay strong, and don’t let a few unhealthy choices keep you away from reaching your goals.  All you have to do now is clear out any extra treats hanging around from the weekend and get back into your regular healthy routines!

I will finish by saying that my son’s favorite Easter “treat” was receiving Pokeman cards from the Easter bunny.  This morning he was still singing about how happy he was to find them!  Unlike a chocolate egg that gets gobbled down in two seconds, he will have his Pokeman cards to enjoy every day  😉

Here’s a mini cardio circuit to help work off those eggs:

Run up and down the stairs 3  times
10 sideway step squats with left foot on the bottom step
10 sideway step squats with right foot on the bottom step
30 seconds fast step ups switching lead foot
15 incline pushups against stairs (or regular for advanced workouts)
15 standard crunches 10 alternating sides oblique crunches
Run up and down the stairs 3 times
15 lunges right foot forward
15 lunges left foot forward
30 seconds fast step ups switching lead foot
15 incline pushups against stairs (or regular for advanced workouts)
15 standard crunches 10 alternating sides oblique crunches
Run up and down the stairs 3 times

Another great idea for this type of training is to have a partner complete as many sets of stairs as you complete one circuit, switch turns once completed 😉

Happy training everyone!
